Kreativ Blogger Award

Happy Friday ladies! I hope everyone is having a great day so far, I know everyone is looking forward to the long weekend.

I have another award post for you today, the Kreativ Blogger Award. This one was given to me by the lovey Dulcie over at OhThreeOhFour. Click on that link and follow her blog! She's pretty amazing! Thanks so much Dulcie!

As awards go this one is fairly simple, I must list 7 random facts about myself and then name 5 fellow bloggers to award as well!

7 Random Facts

1.) My name isn't actually Gini it's Genevieve. I didn't even know that Genevieve was my name until I transferred schools in the 3rd grade! What a rough first day of school that was!

2.) To go with the name thing...I wasn't given a middle name at birth. When I got married and changed my name I went with old fashion tradition and made my maiden name my middle name, which was a huge relief for me because loosing my last name was the hardest part of getting married.

3.) I can't blow raspberries. It tickles my tongue and lips to much to do it! Yes, I know that's weird.

4.) If I had to choose 1 food that I would DIE without it would be cheese. I LOVE cheese! Any and all cheese! I Love it!

5.) I hate, Hate , HATE with a fiery passion Will Ferrell. I can't even stand looking at his face! He's not the only person, but he seems to be the one that gets the most reaction when I tell people.

6.) I'm still unable to answer people (realistically) when they ask what I want to do with my life.

7.) I always wear flip flops. Rain or shine, hot or cold. I hate wearing "shoes", my toes do not like them at all. It will suck once it starts snowing and I will have to wear real shoes! That's usually the only time I will.  :(

My Favorite Things Challenge: Day 6-Stripes

Hello again ladies! I feel like all I've been doing this week is painting my nails. I mean I'm always painting my nails but I usually keep a mani on for at least 36 hours. This week has been 24 or less and I still haven't even gotten around to swatching all of the new polishes I've gotten recently! Maybe next week I'll have the chance.

On to the challenge...
For the stripes challenge I started off with 2 coats of China Glaze Flying Dragon with a coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White underneath, since FD is a neon and neon's are really sheer. Yes, I know, I'm kind of stuck on neon's lately. Maybe it's my own little tribute to the end of summer.

I think I'm in love with this polish! It applied much better than I thought it would, the white base may not have been needed after all.

This is the revamped version of Flying Dragon. The first came out back in 2008 and was a darker purple. This version is a lighter more magenta color. It has a very subtle glitter in it, in pink and blue.

Next I taped off thick stripes with my trusty scotch tape
and painted on top with China Glaze Polarized.

Polarized is part of the China Glaze Prismatic collection, and is suppose to be a duochrome glitter. I myself see no color shift in this polish, but it doesn't change that I love it. It has full coverage in 2 coats and aside from the main glitter color of silver there are slightly larger glitters in yellow, orange, green and pink as well. I'm pretty pleased that I picked this baby up from Sally's clearance rack!

Well those are my stripes!

31 Day Challenge Day 4 "Green"

I'm having a busy week, between the challenges and family thing and now I've started walking with my cousin everyday. ( Gotta get this fat ass in shape! ) But the challenge must go on!
For my green I used China Glaze In The Lime Light

This is 4 coats, being a neon it is a very thin formula.

Then I drew on some leaves? flowers? I don't know what it is. LOL

I used Kiss nail art polishes in white and silver then dotted using black over silver.

Then I added black rhinestones.

I like how this turned out. This wasn't what I had originally planned to do for this part of the challenge. I was suppose to do a snake skin mani using the paper towel technique. Unfortunately that was a Major FAIL! I don't know how that technique can even work, it was quite difficult. Has anyone tried it? If so, do you have any pointers? I'd really like to make it work.

My Favorite Things Challenge Day 5...

Polka Dots...
I'm rushing to get this done. I actually did a mani last night for this challenge but after I looked at it I hated it. It was POO! I spent all day staring at it and loathing it but I couldn't change it because I was keeping my grandpa company while my grandma was having her eye surgery.
As soon as I got home I had to change it! I'm still not very happy with what I have...It looks great but it doesn't want to photograph well at all!

Left to right:
Snow Me White, Let's Talk, Dream On, 24/7

The problem I am having with this mani is that all the colors are true except Let's Talk.

It looks kind of blue in these pictures but it's really purple,
one that I can only describe as electric purple.

Maybe it's just me. I don't know. Either way...this is my polka dot mani! I hope everyone is having a good week so far! I'll be back tomorrow with a green mani and a new technique, if all goes as planned! Later gaters! ;)

Fang-tastic!!!

It's a very sad day today! It's season finale day for True Blood.
So in honor of one of my favorite shows ending for the next 9 months I decided to try some vampire/blood themed nails.

I started with 2 coats of Orly Decades Of Dysfunction

I wasn't sure if I liked this color at first, but it won me over.

Next I used Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar to paint my dripping blood.

My lips/fangs and vampire bite were done with acrylic paint.

Farewell True Blood, until next season I will be re watching on dvd!

And now for your viewing pleasure some Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard)
the sexiest vampire ever!

Hummmmmina humina humina  humina! ;)

31 Day Challenge...Day 3 "Yellow"

Yellow is not really my favorite color. Maybe that's why I wasn't too into this assignment in the challenge. I had no ideas but I knew I wanted to use a yellow I haven't used yet.

I settled on Sinful Colors Lets Meet and Orly After Party

That's 3 coats, it's still a tad sheer but covered well enough that I didn't want to add a 4th.

Then I used my BM - 304 with After Party to make my smiley faces and scotch tape for the tips.

After doing this I have come to the realization I need to invest in stamping polish.
Yes my polish worked but it just isn't dark enough for my taste. The difference in opacity between the stamp and the tips is too drastic

So this is my yellow for day 3. I hope I can get more creative after this one. I was just stumped.
And as always, please go visit the other ladies participating in this challenge to see their creations!

2 Challenges 1 Post, Cheater, Cheater, Orange Eater!

Well hello all! I decided, after much debate, to do just one post for both of the challenges that I have homework due for today...My Favorite Food for the My Favorite Things Challenge by Ooh La La Polish and the Color Orange for the 31 Day Challenge by Kimber's Lacquer Korner. I was going to go with Sushi but lets face it I just didn't feel up to drawing/painting all those little rolls and sashimi pieces...I know, I suck! So I went with one of my favorite fruits. I know I went easy, but who really doesn't like oranges???? They ARE amazing! Hello!
For this post I used an array of orange hues.
D&R Apothecary Clownin Around
and Sinful Colors Pull Over, Clementine and Citrine.

I started off with 2 coats of Pull Over. (Don't mind the oops on my middle finger, it disappears once I get to the next step) Now I am fairly sure this color is a dupe for China Glaze Sun Worshiper which I used fairly recently. I may need to do a comparison post soon because application was completely different on these 2 brands. Anyway...

I decided on a sponged gradient look. Don't mind my polish encrusted water glass there, I use it for my water marbling and for sponging so it gets a bit  gookie.

See, no more oops on my middle finger! =)

This was 2 sponged applications. ^^^

I then used Sinful Colors Snow Me White with BM-308 to stamp on my oranges.
I had a horrible stamping night with this look. It took me like a million and one tries before I finally just said foooook it and just left them all jacked up! I was fed up, I don't care!

And applied a coat of D&R Apothecary Clownin Around.
I have used a few of D&R's polishes now and this one is probably my least favorite. It has a nice shimmery orange base and a TON of multi colored, sized and shaped glitters but it was almost impossible to get the glitter out of the bottle. No matter how hard and how long I shook it they mostly stuck to the side and bottom of the bottle.

So here is my orange orange challenge mani....thank god this one was finished!

Make sure to check out the other girls in both of these challenges!
