Zoya PixieDust: Full Collection Swatches and Review

Hi girls and boys! As you know, unless you've been living under a rock, Textured  polishes are the big thing this year. I know that a lot of you have been going crazy over Zoya's version of this hot trend, so I am happy to bring the whole PixieDust collection here to my blog today for your viewing pleasure!

"PixieDust Application Information -  Do not use a base coat or top coat. Apply 1-3 (for full coverage) thin coats of polish. Allow product to dry down completely matte in between layers for full textured effect. The PixieDust textured formula may take up to 10 minutes to dry completely matte. Once dry, the textured finish is long lasting, matte and ultra-glittery!" -Zoya
Dahlia...
...described as a black beauty with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of Dahlia are shown as 2 coats no base or top coat.

The color and look of Dahlia reminds me of asphalt, but with lots of sparkle! I want to stress the fact that you need to wait for each coat to dry down to matte. If you don't it will turn into a clumpy draggy mess when applying the next coat. The dry time was a bit better than the stated 10 minutes, by a minute or 2. Coverage was excellent requiring only 2 coats for full coverage/no vnl. The texture isn't abrasive, making all of these wearable even for someone like me who usually likes to pick at any texture on my nails.

Left shown with 1 coat NPB Glitter Food and 1 coat Mega Shine. Right no top coat.

Godiva...
...described as a soft nude with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of Godiva are shown as 3 coats no base or top coat.

Godiva is the one of the collection I thought I would like the least, turns out it's one of my favorites. It looks like light brown sugar or sand. The sparkle is amazing and this would look great on anyone. Perfect for a more subdued yet still trendy look. This one seemed to be a tad more on the sheer side so I used 3 coats to ensure full coverage/no vnl.

Chyna...
...described as a red dazzle with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of Chyna are shown as 2 coats no base or top coat.

Chyna...WHOA! The pictures just don't do this beauty justice! It is my absolute favorite from the collection, which is surprising because I'm not the biggest fan of reds. I think what really draws me in is that the sparkle in this one is red and not silver like the rest. Hubby described it as Dorthy's Ruby Slippers. There is so much sparkle in this one that I couldn't stop staring at my hand. I love how the texture in this one gives it so much depth, bright to deep red. It's a stunner! Again 2 coats were perfect for full coverage/no vnl.

*Note* While I really do recommend following the textured trend if you purchase these, because they really are more amazing without the top coat, I will say that I LOVE Chyna equally with or without top coat!
I think the top coat really takes the uniqueness out of the other shades but this one is just as stunning either way! Just my opinion. :)

Nyx...
...described as a perfect periwinkle with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of Nyx are shown as 3 coats no base or top coat.

Another one of my favorites of the collection but I expected that since I am a blue junkie apparently! Nyx, is a perfect shade for anytime of the year though, cool enough for fall and winter and still bright enough for spring and summer. It was a little more sheer, like Godiva, requiring the extra coat for full coverage but it doesn't make it any harder to apply or to dry than the others that are 2 coaters.

Vespa...
...described as a Mint Kiss with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of Vespa are shown as 2 coats no base or top coat.

Vespa makes me think of Easter. Minty, sugary, very pretty but not really my color. Even so it has amazing sparkle and the coverage is as excellent as all the others, no vnl after 2 coats.

Left shown with 1 coat NPB Glitter Food and 1 coat Mega Shine. Right no top coat.

London...
...described as a fog gray with a sugared sparkle.

All photos of London are shown as 2 coats no base or top coat.

London, again has excellent coverage with 2 coats. It is probably my least favorite of the bunch. Maybe it's just too similar to Dahlia and Nyx, like the 2 had a baby and this is the result. LOL It sill has great sparkle though, so if you are a lover of gray polishes this may be the color for you.

*My Top Picks*
 Chyna, Godiva & Nyx

Overall, every single one of these has great coverage and application (as long as you follow the instructions-I can't stress this enough). The colors are great, there is a color for pretty much everyone in this collection since they go from BOLD to SOFT! While I don't usually wear polish for long periods of time I can say that they do last for at least 24 hours no chipping, after that I'm not sure, so sorry. Removal? Easy! Much easier than your average glitter polish. I found that there was no soaking/foil required.

You can purchase Zoya PixieDust here, they retail for $9 each.

  1. Wow! I was on the fence about these until now. Your swatches are epic! These are actually gorgeous!!! I think I need them all, although with my swatch schedule I dunno when I'd wear them. But I must have the either way!

  2. I bought these online & haven't used them yet. Whoa! They are beautiful alone, but putting a top coat on them just gives the glitter so much depth. Beautiful photos too.

  3. Gorgeous swatches! I do really like Zoya's pixie dust polishes, I think I might actually like these better than the Liquid Sand :o
