Polish TBH Opening! *Review and Swatches* Pt. 2

Hello my polished pretties! How are we on this lovely Halloween? I had planned on posting this later in the day but I remembered that it's Halloween and that some of you gals will be busy taking kiddies trick or treating or going to parties and what not, so earlier seems better to give all of you a chance to see these.

I want to start this part of the review just a little bit differently than what I usually do. I have been following Christian, the mind behind Polish TBH, from pretty close the beginning. It's been great fun to see her sneak peaks here and there. So when I received the opportunity to get to know about this line first hand I knew I wanted to pass this info on to you all as well. It's vary rare that I have the opportunity to bring a brand spankin new polish line to you first so I did a mini Q&A with Christian to share with you all!

Polish TBH Opening! *Review and Swatches* Pt. 1

Good morning ladies! I have something very special for you all today! I was recently sent a collection for a brand new Indie by the name of Polish TBH.

I decided to break this review up into 2 parts since these posts are picture heavy. Today I will have Circus, Twist and Hidden.

Day 22 "Inspired by a song"

Hi all, I know I'm late posting but at least I'm posing closer to the actual day than I have been! Today's mani was a tough one for me. I had a few ideas and I just wasn't feeling any of them. That on top of the killer headache I haven't been able to shake for about a week now I just said eff it and went with the song that kept popping in to my head all day anyway Mariposa Traicionera (treacherous butterfly) by Mana
Actually they were inspired by the album art for the single.

2 manis,1 post. Both Nail Fail!

Hey all, sorry I've not been keeping up with my challenges lately. I have been pretty busy with reviews and I have been a bit put off with the challenges since I broke my nail. Nail art is virtually impossible to do on my right hand since I am right handed. My left hand is pretty useless unless it's holding a bottle of polish. LOL
I did completely bypass Day 19 (Galaxies) in the challenge. I will do one before the challenge is over, cross my heart! Today I have Days 20 and 21, Water Marble and Inspired by a Color.
I want to remind you that at the very beginning of this challenge I said that I would show you even the most ugly, failed attempts. And these frankly belong in that category.

Nailgasm Review **New Indie**

Hello ladies! Tonight I have another new Indie to show you! Nailgasm...Polish that makes your nails wet! I love the name Nailgasm! How many times do we nail junkies say that on a weekly or even daily basis? Today's Nailgasm polish is Ice Cream Dream: a soft pink milky base with matte red hex glitter, pink holo glitter, periwinkle iridescent glitter, and matte purple square glitter. It really does remind me of bubble gum ice cream! I'm a sucker for milky base polishes, so I had to show it to you first out of the 3 I have to review!

*New Indie Review* Pibble Polish

Hello ladies, I hope everybody's week is starting out well. Today's post is a review on an NEW indie, Pibble Polish. The creator of Pibble Polish describes her line as "unique lacquers inspired by rescue dogs everywhere." The polish I have to show you today is Nymeria, described as a rich, vibrant royal purple with shimmering fine golden sparkle, similar in feel to Essie Starry Starry Night. This was a custom polish for the creator's friend who named it after Arya Stark's dire wolf (Game of Thrones) because, as she reasoned, "the dire wolf puppies were pretty much rescues, right?"

So on to the polish...

Day 17 "Glitter"

Yes I am a day late on my day 17 post, but I have a good excuse! My wedding anniversary is on the 15th and my hubby surprised me Saturday with a few things, one of them was tickets to the Cardinals 1st game of the NLDS against the Washington Nationals!! Hubby wanted me to do Red October nails for the game, so he bought me Orly Rockets Red Glare (along with some other goodies) to make it happen!

I decided to do a red and white gradient then then add glitter to it.

Then with white acrylic paint I added the STL logo and my favorite players jersey number, 4 for Yadier Molina the best catcher in baseball!!

Colors used left to right:
Orly Dayglow
Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby
Orly Rockets Red Glare

So those are my glitter/Red October nails! I was so happy to go to the game I just wish we would have won, especially since we froze our asses off! Oh well they're kickin but right now so far!

Well ladies I'm going to go make a pumpkin roll for the the hubby then work on a few review manis!  Don't forget to check out the other ladies, who were probably on time with their glitter manis!

Day 16 of the 31 Day Challenge "Tribal Print"

Hello ladies, yes again! I know, 2 posts in one night!? It's a miracle! LOL I had been so behind in my 31 day posts I really wanted to try and keep in schedule since I have a really full month! Today was the day in the challenge, along with day's 18 and 19, that I have been dreading! I've never done a tribal print mani before. I have adored the time some of you girls take to put into the very detailed tribal but I just don't like spending that much time on a mani that I know will be taken off in 24 hours anyway! However, once I saw my inspiration for this mani I actually got a tad bit excited about it.

I started off with 3 coats of Orly Dayglow.

Dayglow was part of the Feel The Vibe collection and my favorite white in my collection so far. It has a slight blue shimmer to it, which is extremely hard to capture in pictures. Take my word for it, it's beautiful!!!

These earrings were the inspiration for this mani. I found them on Pinterest. Here's the link to my board with the pin if you're interested.

Next I used Spoiled Distant Memory and Sally Hansen Golden-I to create my designs

I know my designs aren't an exact match for the pattern on the earrings but they were my inspiration none the less. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, much better than I expected!

Don't forget to check out the links below for the other great tribal manis that were done!

I want to end this post by telling you all that my friend Nicole at Nicole Gets Nailed is having a giveaway! She has an awesome blog with a butt ton of free hand nail art! Her blog is one of my faves! Go follow her and enter her giveaway by clicking the picture below!!!

Jamberry Nail Shields Review

Hello ladies! I have a review for you today. Now it's not polish but it's a polish alternative for those of you who are looking for a longer lasting manicure.  I am asked constantly, by family, friends and followers about how to have a manicure that lasts. While there are steps that you can take to prolong a polish mani there are other alternatives. A lot of women like using shields, and there are a wide variety of them out there. So I contacted Shelly, a Jamberry Independent Consultant, to send me a sample to review for you all.

I applied the shield as an accent nail to give you a comparison of how well it would hold up vs polish.
The basics of application are as follows:
On a clean nail that has been buffed out you match the shield to the finger it will fit on the best. Peel the shield off the paper and warm it up with a blow-dryer for about 15 seconds. Once it's warm you apply it to the nail and then smooth it out and seal it with a cuticle pusher(preferably a rubber one so you don't damage the shield) Then you trim excess with scissors and file the rest in a downward motion. Then apply heat and pressure to the shield again to insure a seal.
Application wasn't to hard but it does require a little bit of practice. You'll see in my pictures that I had a bit of a hard time with getting one side to smooth out.  I do believe that if I had a full set I would have nailed it (oun intended, haha) byt he 2nd or 3rd nail or had I applied this to my left hand it would have gotten smoothed out completely, since I am right handed!

I wore the shield and the polish for 6 days. Here is the differnece in wear.

Shields vs polish...I think the shields won. What do you think?
As you can see the corners are gone, but I will again claim responsibility for that. I didn't get the seal on the shield well enough and it happened right away. I have to say I am impressed with Jamberry shields. I have tried a few of the store brand shields and those have failed miserably. The adhesive on those things melt so badly they start to slip off after a couple of good hot hand washes or after a sink full of dishes. Even with my flawed application these didn't budge. No goo, no slipping, cracking, or tearing. (the corners, I had to cut off because I failed to realize that they weren't sealed until after I had gotten my hands wet and applied cuticle oil so there was no way to save them) These are very good quaility shields in comparison to the others I've tried. For all of you ladies who aren't polish junkies and just like to have a nice looking set of nails these may be for you.

Pros
-NO SMELL and NO MESS!
-You're not dealing with liquid which means NO DRYING TIME.
-They DON'T CHIP, like I said I had to cut the corners off, I couldn't get them off any other way!
-They're WATER PROOF!
-Priced at $15 a sheet is great considering they last waaaaay longer than getting a manicure at your local salon that cost even more! (They can last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 6 weeks on toes)
-There are designs for every holiday, occasion and season. So no more wishing you can flaunt your cool nail art, you can just apply it with these!

Cons
-Application can take a little practice and patience.

Overall, I was very satisfied with  these shields and pleasantly surprised. If you have been wanting to try them out I would recommend doing so! If you are interested contact Shelly these 3 ways:
or through email smhollander@hotmail.com

Shelly is currently running a special offer this month for first time customers offering a free gift with purchase for those who place an order with her before Oct 9th!  So swing by her page or site to take advantage of this offer and let her know I sent you! =)
She's also having a party special going on now as well.(see the picture below!)

Have a great night gals
-Gini
