My Top 12 of 2012

I asked a while back if anyone would like to see a post of my favorite polishes of 2012 and a few people expressed some interest. Since I am such a huge fan of Indies I am going to do just Indie polishes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone in the states is having a wonderful Thanksgiving and going to enjoy lots of Turkey, and all of my international polish pals happy Thursday! I just wanted to share my Thanksgiving mani with you all. I didn't have time to do the turkey mani I wanted to do since my family and I were running around trying to get some shopping done for our trip to Indiana to visit my older brother and his family. So I decided to just use some fall colors instead. I recently won a new beauty from Hit Polish (I've posted about some of Rachel's polishes before when her shop went by D&R Apothecary) by giving her the name for one of her soon to be released polishes. I received it yesterday and quickly decided it would be perfect for my Turkey day mani!  Here is butterLondon All Hail the Queen under Hit Polish Painted Desert.

2 Challenges 1 Post, Cheater, Cheater, Orange Eater!

Well hello all! I decided, after much debate, to do just one post for both of the challenges that I have homework due for today...My Favorite Food for the My Favorite Things Challenge by Ooh La La Polish and the Color Orange for the 31 Day Challenge by Kimber's Lacquer Korner. I was going to go with Sushi but lets face it I just didn't feel up to drawing/painting all those little rolls and sashimi pieces...I know, I suck! So I went with one of my favorite fruits. I know I went easy, but who really doesn't like oranges???? They ARE amazing! Hello!
For this post I used an array of orange hues.
D&R Apothecary Clownin Around
and Sinful Colors Pull Over, Clementine and Citrine.

I started off with 2 coats of Pull Over. (Don't mind the oops on my middle finger, it disappears once I get to the next step) Now I am fairly sure this color is a dupe for China Glaze Sun Worshiper which I used fairly recently. I may need to do a comparison post soon because application was completely different on these 2 brands. Anyway...

I decided on a sponged gradient look. Don't mind my polish encrusted water glass there, I use it for my water marbling and for sponging so it gets a bit  gookie.

See, no more oops on my middle finger! =)

This was 2 sponged applications. ^^^

I then used Sinful Colors Snow Me White with BM-308 to stamp on my oranges.
I had a horrible stamping night with this look. It took me like a million and one tries before I finally just said foooook it and just left them all jacked up! I was fed up, I don't care!

And applied a coat of D&R Apothecary Clownin Around.
I have used a few of D&R's polishes now and this one is probably my least favorite. It has a nice shimmery orange base and a TON of multi colored, sized and shaped glitters but it was almost impossible to get the glitter out of the bottle. No matter how hard and how long I shook it they mostly stuck to the side and bottom of the bottle.

So here is my orange orange challenge mani....thank god this one was finished!

Make sure to check out the other girls in both of these challenges!

Stormy Skies

Happy Saturday ladies! I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather! I know I am.
So in honor of the storm we had here the other night, that lead to our big cool down,
I wanted to do some stormy nails.
I applied 1 coat of Sinful Colors Rain Storm.

This is such a thick, opaque, creamy polish. I absolutely love the formula and the color.
This would make a great stamping polish.

Then on my index and ring fingers I applied 1 coat of
Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly.

I really looooove this polish with the differnt color blue glitters and the hint of red. It's stunning!
It really didn't need to be used as a top coat, since this amazing glitter bomb has a lovely blue base to it. After 2 or 3 coats, I'm sure, it would provide full coverage!

I pulled out Sinful Colors Snow Me White to do some stamping.

I used my Mash-37 plate on my thumbs and pinkies to add clouds.
Then my Fauxnad plate MLS301 on my middle fingers to add lightning bolts.

Then I added a coat of D&R Apothecary Calla Lily.
It added a siver sheen to the white bolts and clouds to make them kina stormy looking.

I think the glitters made it look like rain a little bit.
What do you think?

Finally, of course, I topped it all off with a coat of SV.
Have a great weekend everyone!

My Soul Mate's A Rock Star!!!

Today is a very special day. On this day many years ago a little girl was born. This girl grew to be an amazing woman who is generous, compassionate, selfless, intelligent, wise beyond her years. I had the privilege of meeting this young woman only 7 years ago, yet it feels like we have known each other for our entire lives! I've grown to love her more and more everyday. Without her I know i wouldn't be where I am today, I probably wouldn't be at all. My Soul Mate, isn't my husband but my best friend. We have such a deep bond it's like we share the same brain sometimes. Our lives are so much the same it's scary, yet they are so different it amazes me that God put us together! Happy Birthday Rah Rah, soul mates for ever Boo!! This post's for you.

I started this with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Soul Mate.

Soft light indoor

I did this mani at night so I only have natural light pics at the end.

Flash indoor

I really love this color. In the bottle it looks like more of a mauve but it's a very nice kind of bubble gum pink cream polish. Of course when I saw the name I thought of my BFF and had to get it!

Next I applied 2 coats of D&R Apothecary Rock Star.
I really like this polish. I was on Etsy looking for cool polishes and happened to come across this seller. They had a bunch of mini's they were discontinuing to make room for new polishes, I will get around to swatching all of them soon. This was not one of the discontinued colors but I liked the combo of black, white and pink glitters in various sizes and shapes so I ordered a mini to try it out. Next time I will order a full size for sure!

Finally some direct sunlight

I finished this off with a generous coat of SV.

I thought the two worked well together. Plus I really liked the 2 names together because
my soul mate really is a rock star! <3
