My Mint Mani For Talia Joy

Hello loves. I am so sorry I have been away, things have been busy. I  have been trying to keep up with what has been happening while I have been away and everyone knows that the beauty world lost one of it's most inspiring young stars, Talia Joy Castellano. She was only 13 years old yet she made a huge impact on so many lives by being a fighter. She was a bright, beautiful, wise and positive young woman who will be missed. 

Nicole from Nail Polish Wars had a great idea for anyone who was interested to create a mint manicure to show a little love and support to her family. I wanted to join in, even if I am a little late. Here is what I created.

Good morning!! I have another review of some nail art goodies from KKCenterHK today! I have had these for a while and I should have gotten to them sooner! Oops! I hope the sweet people at KKCenterHK aren't too upset with me! I just really needed to get some inspiration for these and I finally came up with this. I hope you all enjoy! 

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A few weeks ago my lovely niece, Nani, asked me if I was planning on doing any St Patrick's Day nails. I normally plan an art mani out and then get so busy with my reviews I just end up sayin fudge it and scrap the whole idea. This time was different since Nani requested that I turn her concept into art on my nails. She is probably one of the most artistic people I will ever meet. This little girl, (young woman? Nah she's still my baby! LOL) can turn some of the most random pieces of scrap into a work of art. Paintings or jewelry, full outfits made of paper to building her own doll house from scratch, that the cat now sleeps in by the way, she is a true artist, in mind, eye and attitude  I only hope that as she grows up that creativity grows with her and she won't let adolescence take away that artistic side! So this mani is for my Nani Bear! (She's going to kill me for writing that!)

But I am determined to actually finish this challenge with no more skip days! So since I was in such a hurry I decided to go for an easy out. Here are my Ectoplasmic Goo nails that were inspired by the Ghostbusters.

Ninja Babe: Nail Pattern Boldness

Hello all! I have a quick post today. This is one I've been wanting t do for a while now. I was going to swatch my Color Club holiday mini set but I decided I had enough time to do that later. Instead I have a top coat from Nail Pattern Boldness to show you today! Allison listed this girly version of  Ninja vs Pirate a couple of months back and was sweet enough to send me one. Like I said I've been pretty backed up and just now have gotten around to using this beauty, but better late than never. 

Ninja Babe: Red and pink shard glitters in a clear base.

All pictures show 2 coats of Ninja Babe over 2 coats Wet n Wild Break the Ice topped with 1 coat of NPB Glitter Food  to assure smoothness and 1 coat Sally Hansen Mega Shine since NPB dries a bit matte.

Application was an absolute breeze. There was no fishing and really no need for placing any of the glitters. They just slid right off the brush with no problems!

I am so in love with shard glitters! It gives such a cool abstract look.

Day 28 Inspired by a Flag

Hello loves! Today is day 28! Yes, 28!!! I can't believe it's almost over! To be honest there were times I was like "IS THIS EVER GOING TO END!?!?!" LOL But I have had a lot of  fun doing this! It's really helped me expand as a blogger and it has allowed me to find some great gals that I now call friends! So If you are a new blogger or thinking about blogging  join a challenge, it really gives you the sense of community that you hear so much about from us crazy polish junkies! Thank you to all of you great gals that comment all the time and show so much love, thank you to all of you that follow and enjoy watching me grow in my obsession and hopefully talent! Poison Ivy

Hey girls and boys, how are we all today?  I decided, that since I am working on my next review, I would do a post on a color I used recently in my Jindie Nails Santa Claws Review.  I took a few pictures of this before I added Jen's amazing sparkly pretty just so I could show you all the amazingness of this color! Happy November girls and boys! I hope everyone had a safe Halloween. I spent mine finishing up all of the pictures for this post, so I hope you all like it! I warn you right now this post will be very, very picture heavy! I assure you though, it is well worth it! I now present to you the full Santa Claws Collection by Jindie Nails.

Grey's Anatomy

Just a quick late night post here! I had planned on getting this up much earlier but I got wrapped up in some house work and then the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy came on! I just wanted to do show you gals my Grey's Anatomy mani!

 

 

I applied 3 coats of Wet n Wild  Gray's Anatomy

 

I have seen this color in the store about a million times and never bothered getting it because it didn't really wow me. But while I was at CVS the other day the girl at check out said that there was a bin that had a bunch of polishes for $.20! Yes twenty cents! So I grabbed every color they had in that bin, and Gray's Anatomy was one of them!

 

I actually like this so much more than I originally thought! This just goes to show that you can't judge a bottle by its color! Swatches are so important! It looks way better on my hand than in the bottle.

 

I really like the how the color shifts from gray to lavender to green!

 

 

Then I drew some hearts with Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar on my middle finger and stamped the rest of the nails with Finger Paints Black Expressionism using my Mash plate M-38.

 

Did anyone else watch the Grey's Anatomy premier tonight? If so, did you cry like a GIANT baby? No? Well...um neither did I. LOL! Yes I'm a crier!

 



31 Day Challenge - Day 13 "Animal Print"

 Hello ladies! Sorry I am late once again for the late posting! I had my mani done much earlier but I didn't get around to writing out the post since I went to St Louis to go visit my mommy, sister and the kiddies for the evening. I didn't realise my normally 1 hour drive was going to turn into a 2 hour fiasco! It was raining so friggin hard I got stuck on the highway for a while. Not to mention the 3 stores I went to just to try and find the damn Fantasy Makers. No, I STILL didn't find them, BUT Kimber is my saviour and has volunteered to get pick them up for me so I can stop ranting about it! LOL Thank You Kimber! You may have saved what is actually left of my sanity!

 

Any who...for this day in the challenge I was wanting to do something more than just the typical leopard, tiger, zebra, giraffe print. Not that there is anything wrong with those, I  just wanted something different. The hubster and I were recently at the St Louis Zoo and I am always so in awe of the colorful reptiles and such so I was browsing pictures of colorful frogs and snakes and I came across this picture of a Harlequin Toad, and instantly I needed to use this for my animal print!



 

For this look I used Spoiled by Wet n Wild Uh, As If and Visually Slimming...on my shorter nails I might add! (Stupid break! LOL)

 

 

I wasn't sure how I wanted to recreate the look so I tried to use the Saran Wrap method first...that was a FAIL so I just drew the pink on with a toothpick!

 

Now for the sake of time I just kept the Saran Wrap nails as "accents" LOL

 

So that's my "Animal Print" mani! Friday is flowers!

Now I am going to check out what the other Sassy Painters have done with their day 13 mani's! You should go check them all out too!

 

Also it seems that I am super close to the 100 likes mark on my Facebook page so I will be getting the pictures of the prizes ready and hopefully have it up by the end of the week, Monday at the latest! I am so excited to be having my first giveaway!!!! YAY!

Originally I wanted to do my spun sugar mani for this day but I decided that it had been a while since

I had done a Saran Wrap mani so I opted for that instead. I have only done the Saran Wrap technique once, that time I painted the second color over the first then took the SW to the nail. This time I decided I wanted to try the other way: putting the polish on the SW and dabbing it on top of the base color which would mimic the speckled pattern on the Jelly Beans.

Did I manage to capture the essence of the Jelly Belly?? LOL

I'm glad I chose to do this for my final Favorite Things mani, there are just so many things I love about this! I really enjoyed this challenge and I hope you all did too.

I will still be working on the 31 day challenge for a while still so make sure to check on the future mani's, the best is yet to come!

The Ripple Effect

I'm going to try something a little different in this post.

All of my previous posts were of my finnished mani, but I think I'm going to do my posts from start to finish, from now on. So here it goes...

...I was at Walgreens picking up some cotton balls and noticed that they have a new Wet n' Wild display, Fergie by Wet n' Wild. I picked up 2 bottles, Dutchess and Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Walk of Fame is a jelly with tons of glitter, several colors of star shaped and some small silver bar and a little bit of fine silver bits in there too. Cute in the bottle but it's almost impossible to get more than 3 or 4 stars out at once. :(

Dutchess on the other hand...WOW! I LOVE this polish! It's a clear base jammed packed full of micro fine blue glitter and some hex shaped purple glitter. There is no problem getting the glitter to come out of this bottle!

So since I loved this one so much I decided to use it in my next mani.

I applied 2 coats of Orly Skinny Dip

If I wasn't going to layer this up I would have done a 3rd coat, this is not a thick polish.

I absolutely adore this color!

Next I applied 2 coats of  Dutchess

The Dutchess made the Skinny Dip a tad darker but I love how the two look together.

Then I use Bundle Monster plate BM-19...

...and Orly Dayglow.

It looks like water ripples.

My thumb nail was a little wonky...my nails are pretty wide and much longer than the plate will allow me to stamp, so i had to stamp each nail twice with the design sideways, and I didn't align my design up right . Oops.

Has anyone else tried any of the Fergie collection by Wet n' Wild? I would love to hear some thoughts on the other polishes in the line.



Nail Pattern Boldness: My First Indie Purchase

This is going to be long post...Sorry!

I have been checking out a lot of nail blogs lately, and one thing they all have in common is their love for Indie label polishes. So of course I needed to check them out. I've become quite obsessed actually! The problem is they are sooooo popular and very limited so they sell FAST! Well it just so happens that I managed to catch a limited restock for Nail Pattern Boldness...OK, OK! I was kinda STALKING her  Blog and her Facebook Page. LOL

Aaaaaanyway, I managed to snag a few bottles.

I did a few swatches first...

This is a bottle JAM PACKED full of fine glitters.

Mostly matte white, with some yellow, green, blue, red and even a little purple.

I'm 100% positive that this would look Aaaaaamazing in direct sunlight pix. I unfortunately didn't capture any...I will next time though.

1. 3 coats of NPB Mrs.White

2. 1 coat L'Oreal VIP Status and 2 coats NPB Mrs.White

3.1 coat Pure Ice White On and 2 coats NPB Mrs.White

Now, this polish can be pulled off as a "full coverage" polish BUT you have to let it dry completely between coats or it will clump and end up looking ragged like my #1 nail does (I'm impatient)

I actually like the solo look the best. Next time I will let it dry properly to wear it this way.

My second favorite is #3. It adds a subtle glitter look since most of the glitter is white...it looked much better in person than in this picture.

I like #2 but it's not my fave. I need to work on what darker color this would look fabulous on because the VIP didn't do it for me.

Next up: Ninja vs Pirate

That is 2 coats of  N vs P.

It's filled with very chunky black and white matte glitter that look like glass shards.

It, obviously, is meant to be a top coat and not a stand alone polish.

I decided to use this one for my full mani.

I alternated Sinful Colors Midnight Blue and Wet n Wild Red Red.

I then dabbed a bit of Wet n Wild's Spoiled in Daddy's Credit Card...a silver metallic color...with some saran wrap on each nail, to give it a bit of a silver shimmer.

I then added 2 coats of Ninja vs Pirate.

On top of that I added NPB Glitter Food.

This nifty stuff is a two in one polish. It's a top coat that was specially formulated for thirsty glitter polishes, to even them out and keep the finish from being rough or bumpy.

It's also good to, as Allison from NPB says, Fix A Flat...flat glitter polish that is.

For those polishes you have that their base formula couldn't hold up the glitter. There is a better explanation for this process at this link... Fix a Flat.

I used Glitter Food on all but my pinkie nail. I then topped them all with Sally Hansen Mega Shine. (Glitter Food dries to a satin finish, so it is recommended that you add a top coat like my favorites SV or SH Mega Shine to give it a glossy look)

I used 2 coats of the Mega Sine on the pinkie and it was still very bumpy and rough vs the rest of my nails which were relatively smooth. So the Glitter Food was money well spent! 

I am so happy with how this turned out. I am in love with Ninja vs Pirate!

I am so glad I was a stalker! I plan on making another purchase as soon as NPB makes another restock!
