Nail Pattern Boldness: Alpha Nail & Sample 002

Hello! I am sorry that I don't have a Try It On Tuesday post for you today but it actually slipped my mind until just a little while ago and I just don't have time right now. But I do have a couple of amazing Indie polishes to show you tonight. It's no secret that I am totally in love with Indie polishes, majority of what I post is Indie! Well this next review is from Nail Pattern Boldness, the Indie that started it all for me! Allison has some of the prettiest polishes, excellent quality, the best customer service and in my experience the FASTEST shipping I've ever seen from an indie! So let's get started, shall we?

Zoya PixieDust Nail Art

Hello and good morning!! I wanted to do a quick post with some nail art using the Zoya Summer PixieDust collection. I've seen a few gradients already so I decided to avoid those and just went with something really simlple. Stripes! I wanted to see how the tutorial I did back in December would look using the Pixies. Here's how it turned out.

Zoya Summer 2013 PixieDust (Picture Heavy!)

Hello girls and boys, I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a pretty productive weekend myself. I managed to get quite a few swatches done, the Zoya summer PixieDust collection being some of those swatches! I was so excited when Zoya announced that they were doing another set of these textured polishes!

Stop the hate!!

When I started blogging I had square nails. I've always had squares for as long as I can remember. I never gave any other shape a second thought. When I did finally open my eyes to other nail shapes, I still maintained squares were my perfect shape. I even remember having a discussion that I would never be able to wear stiletto nails. Then I came across a very lovely set of stiletto nails. These nails were so amazing that I started wishing I had the balls to pull them off! These nails belonged to a lovely and super sweet young woman by the name of Diana from NailsByDiana. So I eventually decided to bite the bullet and take that plunge. It took me a while to adjust to my new shape of course but I am so glad I made the decision I did.

Unfortunately some people out there seem to think that the shape of my nails is a big of enough problem to say some extremely rude things. I have never been attacked so much over anything in my entire life! I have had to block people who have repeatedly made rude and hurtful comments on several social media sites. All the while holding my tongue. I kept thinking I needed to just suck it up, I've put myself in the public eye, so to speak, therefore I need to develop a thicker skin. Just let the stupidity roll off and move on. I have tried to do so with as much dignity as I could but I have reached my breaking point!

A photo of mine was shared on a popular social media page this evening and there were a couple of comments made and I felt the need to respond:

-"I just can't get past that nail shape"

-"Oh no those nails [are] awful! She needs a new shape badly!"

Now these are tame compared to some of the things I have been told. So here is what I have to say on response to all of the people who seem to have such a hatred for my personal choice to have stiletto nails.

I think you need to be more open minded. It is my decision to have them, they are on my hand,  you don't have to like it! My nails are always well manicured. My nail shape may not be for you, but does that give you the right to attack me? If there were comments being made about someones lack of clean-up or poor cuticle care everyone would be in a huge uproar (again) yet it's perfectly fine for someone to tell me my nail shape is "AWFUL"?  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you need to remember that there is a real flesh and blood person attached to these nails. A person who, up until now, has been extremely nice about this whole thing. If it's something that you wouldn't want to have said to you or someone you care about then maybe you shouldn't say it to anyone! We are all different in some way shape or form. Lets accept people for their differences be it race, religion, the way we dress, walk, talk or even our personal preferences of nail shape. Please stop the stiletto hate! I am nice to you, be nice to me. Attack me and I will attack back! No more Mrs. Nice Nails!!!

I'm finished ranting now. To all of my loyal followers/supporters, I love you guys! Thanks for always being so awesome!

Jindie Nails: "sTEALth" & "Hot Pink Floyd"

Happy Friday! I have some more Jindie's to show you tonight! Are you ready for The Matte Velvet Duo?

These 2 polishes are meant to be worn alone, however they can be worn with shiny top coat, they would  look beautiful either way. I used 3 coats for each color since I tend to have more VNL with the length of my nails but if you have shorter nails you can definitely get away with 2. Application of these were nice and smooth, no flooding or pooling. The glitters are suspended well so there is no need to fish. Dry time was excellent! I didn't have much of a chance to test the wear of them but I did wear Hot Pink Floyd for about 24 hours, I showered, washed dishes did some house work and I had no chipping or wear. Jen tested them longer and this is what she had to say about it  "This matte polish holds up much better than most and is the same great quality brand base as my other polishes. Tested this matte base for a week and held fine in normal wear and tear. Showed no signs of wear for a couple of days."

Jindie Nails: "Fun Intended" & "Princess Consuela Banana Hammock"

Hi loves! Today I have a couple of brand new/soon to be released beauties from Jindie Nails to show you!
The two I have today are from the Spring Chic Collection, and they are awesome!

My issues with Failbook!

I want to address the issues I have been having with Facebook. Yesterday I had a hell of a time getting anything blog related done on Facebook, and I'm sure today will be the same. Every time I posted a link it would pop up a window for me to verify I am a human, guarding against spam.

How am I supposed to even enter text if there isn't any text!?

While I can appreciate the fact that Facebook is trying to protect us from getting a nasty virus I can't for the life of me understand why it would prompt me to do this every single time I post a link. I make sure that my readers have access to my posts with each and every picture and if  mention a post I attach a link, unfortunately  I had to go through this verification process about 30 times yesterday just to do this. THEN, I was informed by one of my fellow bloggers that when she clicked the link to my most recent post a warning came up that said my blog may or may not be spam and to let then know if it was or wasn't. Um, WHAT!? To make a long story short, I have written an not so nice email to FB tech support about this. I have also scanned my entire blog to ensure it was not full of spam or malwear and I can tell you that it is 100% safe!

So please do not be afraid to visit my blog or to click the links on Facebook to do so. I hope that Facebook will fix this issue, especially since I know I am not the only blog this has effected! I will make sure Facebook knows that I am extremely displeased with this by writing them every day until they finally answer or ban me from using my account. It's just unacceptableOk rant over! Thank you for listening!

Hey girls and boys! Second post of the night here, and this one is a doozie! Remember when I said there was sun over the weekend and I turned into the swatching queen? Well these 2 polishes were part of that swatchathon! I had been dying to try these bad boys out since I got the package from Kelara Lacquers, so I was super happy to finally have some decent sun to do it! I think you will really like these if you are a lover of holographic polishes!

ABC Challenge: P Is For piCture pOlish Paradise by Liquid Jelly

I'm running way behind today, I was supposed to have this done as a scheduled post last night but I had the worst migraine and I was feeling sick to my stomach too, so I went to bed really early. I must have been tired because I slept for 14 hours! HOLY COW! So this ABC Challenge post is going to be a short one so I can get my second post up. (Kelara Lacquers holos...you have to come back to see them they are pretty!!!)

TIOT: Wing Dust Collections "Ocean Tears"

Welcome to week 16 of  Try It On Tuesday! Wow! 16 weeks into the year already, can you believe it? I have another blue beauty to show you all this week, following the theme of the month for Autism Awareness! I have been wanting Ocean Tears since it first was released and I thought I had missed my opportunity to get my hands on it when Stephanie said that she was going to be retiring some of her pretties. This one being a LE  made it hard to get during restocks. Well one of her last restocks I aimed for getting this one, I didn't care if I couldn't get any other shade I HAD to have Ocean Tears! I stalked Wing Dust's Etsy shop until it popped up! Yay! It is now mine!! Here's why I had to have this polish...

U-Neek Polish: Dark Angel, Mystic Mist, Cerberus and Black & White Diamonds.

Good morning!! Today I bring to you 4 holographic polishes from U-Neek Polish! I was so excited this past weekend when the sun made an appearance! I live in the Midwest, so it could be sunny and 80 degrees one minute and then gloomy and snowing the next minute. Needless to say I was a swatching fool trying to get all of the holos ready for reviews! LOL

Each of these have excellent formulas, application was great. No flooding, pooling, dragging or thickening during use. Dry time was also excellent. I used a top coat with each of these, it didn't dull the holo at all.

ABC Challenge O is for OPI

Welcome to week "O" of the ABC Challenge! I had a mani in my head for this day for a while, but when I tried to create it I wound up with a big fat FAIL! So I scrapped that idea and went with something easy for this weeks letter. I decided to go with 2 beauties that I had on my wish list for a very long time that Alaina from Don't Spill the Acetone sent me for our St. Patty's exchange. Thanks Alaina!

TIOT: U-Neek Polish "Bradenton Beach" & "Carpe Diem"

Hi all! Today's post is a triple whammy, Try It On Tuesday, Blue for Autism Awareness and a review post all in on! Whew, that was a lot! LOL! I have 2 blue beauties from U-Neek Polish to show you all today! I want to first take a minute to share a few things about Autism...

"Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. They include autistic disorder, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and Asperger syndrome.
ASD can be associated with intellectual disability, difficulties in motor coordination and attention and physical health issues such as sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances. Some persons with ASD excel in visual skills, music, math and art.
Autism appears to have its roots in very early brain development. However, the most obvious signs of autism and symptoms of autism tend to emerge between 2 and 3 years of age. "

Here are some signs to look for in the children in your life:

Lack of or delay in spoken language
Repetitive use of language and/or motor mannerisms (e.g., hand-flapping, twirling objects)
Little or no eye contact
Lack of interest in peer relationships
Lack of spontaneous or make-believe play

Persistent fixation on parts of objects

Being aware and helping spread awareness can help make everyday life easier for someone with autism, it may even save a life! If you would like to learn more about Autism you can find more info at www.autismspeaks.org

“Work Appropriate” nail polish doesn’t have to be boring. (Zoya Press Release)

Get to work with the best neutral nail polish: Zoya Godiva
We all know that “work appropriate” fashion and beauty office guidelines vary greatly from company to company depending on the business at hand. And fingernails are often viewed as best covered in clear nail polish, just buffed or a worn in classic French Manicure to error on the side of humdrum and boring but safe in some environments...

Zoya PixieDustTM in Godiva solves this common workplace dilemma with a neutral nail polish color option that is modern, soft and stylish and works as well in the classroom, boardroom and courtroom as it does at a red-carpet movie premieres.

Here’s why... the textured, matte nude nail polish Godiva is beautifully buildable from semi-sheer as a single coat to full-coverage in just two coats, depending on your personal color intensity preference. No matter what, the look is always that of impeccably groomed and modest with just enough sparkle to keep things feminine (and a dare we say a bit sexy too - work it girl!).

The unexpected and huge bonus to Zoya’s PixieDustTM Godiva formulation is that the color dries quickly, requires no base or top coats and is long wearing - which saves precious time for busy professional women (and Mom’s) who always want and need to look their best in a variety of professional situations.

*INSIDER PRO MANICURE TIP*: If you would like to customize Godiva to perfectly match your skin tone, it’s easy. Simply add a drop or two of another Zoya PixieDustTM color, usually Chyna, as desired to the bottle and blend by gently stirring the two shades together. Wearing the color as a semi-sheer single coat also allows your natural skin tone to show through for subtle “naked nail” look that works beautifully with any light or dark skin pigmentation.

See the “Zoya How to apply Zoya PixieDustTM Video” for more great beauty tips and tricks to use when applying Zoya PixieDustTM.

Jindie Nails: I'm A Star Dot Com, Princess Bubblegum & Rave

Jen from Jindie Nails just announced that she will be restocking next week. As most of you already know the Jindie restocks could be a bit challenging and I know some have all but given up on getting your hands on some of Jen's creations. Well there will be some changes! Here is what Jen had to say about her future restocks:

"After a little advice from a *VERY* successful indie that has been doing this WAY longer than I...I have decided that the way I will be doing restocks will go something like this:
The next restock will be sometime next week between Monday-April 15 through Friday-April 20th. I will not be announcing the exact day or time for the restock. However, I will announce just after the restock takes place. I haven't decided if I'll announce just before or not and I'll "play it by ear." I will restock the website spaced a few hours apart, two times per day and I'll be splitting up inventory between the two restocks so that everyone will have the chance at what they wanted. I plan to keep my website open all the times and you'll be able to see all polishes there, even when they sell out. I'll be restocking the sold out polishes about 6-8 polishes at a time. I'll restock those sold out polishes about 2-3 times per month, a few at a time. This is how the upcoming restock will be and all future restocks if this goes well. I think everyone will like this much better!
A list of everything included in the restocks will be listed on the website blog tab before the restock. The Google doc will always have all shades available as well, along with blogger review links for each color."

I have been holding on to this review for a while, I wanted to have some more restock info for you all before I posted it. So in light of Jen's recent announcement, here it finally is!

ABC Challenge: N is for Neon

It's Wednesday and that means it's week 14 of the ABC Challenge hosted by Kimber's Lacquer Korner! Today's letter almost left me recreating one of my first manis, neon spun sugar, which incidentally is by far my most STOLEN mani on Instagram. I decided to do this one instead, so I can give the Instagram thief accounts a new neon mani to steal!

Left to right: Dayglow, Glowstick, Melt Your Popcicle, Oh, Cabana Boy!,  Skinny Dip.

TIOT: NerdLacquer "Cyance Friction"

Purchased By Me

Welcome to another week of Try It On Tuesday! As I said last week I would be doing blue each Tuesday of April for Autism Awareness! I am not claiming to be super educated on this subject nor am I personally effected by it, however I feel the need to show my support for those who deal with Autism every day, like my friend and fellow blogger Kimber. If you haven't read the story that Kimber shared with the world I recommend you do, Kalli's story (Kimber's daughter) is a heartbreaking and inspiring one.

M is for Minion!

Welcome back to another day of the ABC Challenge hosted by the ever so sweet and one of my polish BFF’s Kimber from Kimber’s Lacquer Korner! (Who is also having and AWESOME giveaway right now so go forth and enter away!!! I did and I am keeping my fingers crossed!) I know I’m a day late with my post but my internet went kaput yesterday, I think it’s the modem, so I am now waiting for someone to check the connections/modem. Oh well, gives me an excuse to get out and go to Starbucks and get a Cinnamon Dolce Chiai Tea Latte! YUM! Anyway, I was feeling very uninspired for the letter M. I had thought maybe I’ll just slop some polish on and say here ya go, a Messy Mani, until I started to watch Despicable Me. I have watched that movie about a hundred million times, and every time I tell my husband that I want a Minion! LOL Since he hasn’t delivered on that request I decided to create my own Minions!

TIOT: Nail Pattern Boldness "I Believe I Can Fly"

As I'm sure most of you know, today is World Autism Awareness Day, and a lot of bloggers in the nail community are showing their support by wearing blue manis. Some are only doing the day while others are doing the whole month of April. I have decided to dedicate my Try It On Tuesday's, all April to blue manis, to show my support. I don't have a personal story to share about autism but I know that some of the people in my life deal with the struggles of autism, due to the lack of awareness every day. I show my support for them! If you would like to learn more about what autism is please click the photo above and it will direct you to a website with a lot of important information.

When I was thinking about which polish I wanted to use for this mani I knew instantly I Believe I Can Fly was perfect. Part of Nail Pattern Boldness' R.Kelly collection, named for his inspirational song.  I felt it was appropriate for the theme.

Wing Dust Collections: Cody Cat & Moonlight Sonata

How is everyone on this lovely Tuesday afternoon? I will have a Try it On Tuesday post up later today, for now I have 2 more beauties from Wing Dust Collections new Spring line!
