Stormy Skies

Happy Saturday ladies! I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather! I know I am.
 So in honor of the storm we had here the other night, that lead to our big cool down,
I wanted to do some stormy nails.

I applied 1 coat of Sinful Colors Rain Storm.

This is such a thick, opaque, creamy polish. I absolutely love the formula and the color.

This would make a great stamping polish.

Then on my index and ring fingers I applied 1 coat of

Nail Pattern Boldness I Believe I Can Fly.

I really looooove this polish with the differnt color blue glitters and the hint of red. It's stunning!

It really didn't need to be used as a top coat, since this amazing glitter bomb has a lovely blue base to it. After 2 or 3 coats, I'm sure, it would provide full coverage!

I pulled out Sinful Colors Snow Me White to do some stamping.

I used my Mash-37 plate on my thumbs and pinkies to add clouds.

Then my Fauxnad plate MLS301 on my middle fingers to add lightning bolts.

Then I added a coat of D&R Apothecary Calla Lily.

It added a siver sheen to the white bolts and clouds to make them kina stormy looking.

I think the glitters made it look like rain a little bit.

Finally, of course, I topped it all off with a coat of SV.

Smitten Kitten

I recently won a great giveaway that was hosted by the super sweet Dulcie at ohthreeohfour.

I won 2 polishes, Smitten Polish Mint Chip and Elevation Polish Stay Behind Catch A Wave

 and a cute nail file.

So of course I had to try out at least 1 of my new lovelies, I decided on Mint Chip.
I wasn't sure how it would look on me but as soon as I put it on...WOW! I love this polish!
I applied 3 thin coats of it. For those who like glitter bombs this isn't one of them the small glitters come out no problem, the larger you have to pick out but it works well with this. If they came out in an abundance it would have been too much to actually look like Mint Chip Ice Cream!

I used Sinful Colors Nirvana on my ring fingers.

I says it's a "matte" but it wasn't, but it's ok with me. 

I used Mash plate 46 with Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet to stamp some flowers.

and I added 1 coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. I really like Fairy Dust, it's a great fine glitter polish, very subtle for those days when you just want a hint of sparkle.

I finished it off with a coat of SV.

I liked this so much I wore it for 3 days! That's a long time for me!

And as promised in my last post here are the China Glaze polishes my
nephew picked out for me last weekend, exept the Fairy Dust
he didn't care for that one too much! LOL

He did a pretty good job I think!



Light My Fire!

Hi all! How was everyones weekend? Yes I know I'm a bit late but for the unemployed it's always the weekend. LOL I have been a little busy with a giggling 4 year old, my adorable little nephew, since Friday. He's such a little sweetheart, I want to keep him forever! LOL

Little man went with me this weekend to use my Sally's birthday coupon, he even picked out 4 of my 5 China Glaze polishes I picked up. I got all 5 polishes for under $20, which would have usually been about $35, I love that coupon! I wish I could get one every month!

One of the colors he picked was Sun Worshiper.

This color is amazing, but as you can see in the third picture, it is a very sheer formula.

I can't say I'm surprised though, most neon colors are pretty thin.

I applied 4 coats and I still had VNL. But that's ok, because I had a plan for this color.

I figured this would be a perfect base color for NPB Seppuku (With A Frisbee).

I added  2 coats of Seppuku

(Flash)

On my ring finger I applied Seppuku focusing on the tip.

(Outdoor natural) 

Then I used SC Snow Me White and my Mash plate #48 to stamp flames.

I originally tried to do the flames in red but it didn't show up on top of all the glitter.

I dabbed on just a bit more of Seppuku and finished with

1 coat of NPB Glitter Food then 1 coat of SV.

As you can see I still need to work on my stamping technique. I've found it's hit or miss with which polishes work well for stamping vs the ones that just plain suck for it.

1. I am a Leo. My birthday is August 17th and I will be celebrating my  24th birthday...again! ;)

1. Why did you start playing with polish?

I've always had an interest in polish, but since I've become obsessed with pinterest my husband decided to buy me a bunch of polish and nail art paints. It just kind of bloomed from there.

2. What is your favorite thing to do with your nails?

I go through phases. I use to do nothing but crazy color tips. Now my thing is my accent nail. I really would like to start branching out more to try and sharpen my skills.

3. Cats or dogs?

Ok...please don't hate me but I'm not a huge fan of owning animals. I prefer to admire their great qualities from afar, but i do tend to prefer dogs over cats.

4. Favorite thing to do on your day(s) of relaxation?

My nails, get a pedi or a facial, read or just have dinner with my Soul Mate/BFF.

5. Favorite food?? (RECIPE linkaaageee if it is a dish ;))

6. What is your #1 Lemming polish?

This one is hard I have a few on my I have to have or I will DIE list but I guess the one that's the most unattainable would be the #1 Max Factor Fantasy Fire. I guess as lemming polishes go this is probably on the lower end of the spectrum...I could buy it off eBay but I just can't seem to spend that kind of money on a bottle of polish...YET. ;)

7. What inspired you to turn your polish hobby into a blogging hobby?

I felt so bad for all of my facebook peeps. All of the pictures and posts about polish I'm surprised I still have friends. So I decided to blog and create a FB page. I'm still very new at the blogging thing therefore trying to figure things out as I go. So bare with me.

8. If you could design your own indie polish, what would it look like?

This is something I've been thinking of a lot lately because I would like to try it someday...soon. I know it would be a glitter bomb and probably a little gaudy! ;)

9. House is on fire. What do you grab to take out? Only time to grab one thing (weight is not an object, pretend you are super strong)

My hubby. I know he has feet and could probably walk but he was the first thing that popped in my head. So maybe he's sleeping in this scenario or passed out, who knows. LOL

10. Favorite song?

Right now it would have to be anything by Adele. She's awesome!

11. Favorite polish you own?This changes so often, but I guess the one I always seem to run back to for just a basic color is Orly Oh Cabana Boy! I tend to favor pink polishes and it's so pretty with purple iridescent flash it has in certain light.

Fairy Floss

I am quite new to Indie Polishes so I am still learning about all the different ones that are out there, and man are there a TON! So far the one's I've been able to purchase I L-O-V-E!

I just purchased my first Maisie Shine polish off of Copious. I couldn't pass it up I got $10 for signing up, it covered the purchase and most of the shipping, I think I paid about $2 for this bottle. Not bad! Anyway, on with the post...

Fairy Floss is a milky cotton candy pink with lots of glitter in purple, pink and white in bar, round hex and square shapes.

 I used 2 coats of SC Bikini on my ring finger.

Fairy Floss is very thin so it took 4 coats to gain near full opaqueness.

Next time I will make sure to layer it over a similar pink so I don't waste any of it, because even though it is a sheer formula it's an awesome polish!

I added some purple heart rhinestones and small blue round rhinestones

and topped it all off with a coat of SV.

Rare right hand shot. LOL

Ok, so some of you may not have gotten nail mail today but I did and here's my haul!

Today's mani will feature Fuggen Ugly accompanied by Sinful Colors Innocent

I applied 2 coats of Fuggen Ugly (a subtlety shimmery gray matte) and Innocent on my ring finger for an accent (a cream polish who's color can only be described by me as a limey puke green, LOL).

Unfortunately, in my haste, I forgot to photograph it before I added my leopard  print. Oops!

I used the Fuggen Ugly to outline SC Snow Me White Spots I applied with a dotting tool.

I topped the accent finger with NYC Matte Me Crazy to blend it with the rest of the mani.

Then I used my Silver Glitter Kiss Nail Art Polish to give it just a tiny pit of sparkle.

I love how the Innocent matches the  color on the bottle art!

The flash really shows the sparkle in the Fuggen Ugly. It's an awesome matte polish.

It applies super easy and dries fast.

I orderd the ManGlaze polishes because they were on sale on Amazon for $6.66, which is aaaaaamazing because they are normally about $13. I figured I would try out the lower priced ones before committing to a $13+ price tag for the other colors in the collection. I am very happy with the product and will order more as soon as my funds allow. If you're interested in buying some ManGlaze polishes go to their website where they have a coupon code to save 10% on your purchases while they renovate their website!

I can't wait to get some more of these polishes.

This Is It

It's been a busy week, my 8 year old niece has been here all week visiting since we've had my stepdaughter for 2 weeks. So it's been a house full of girls, my poor hubby! Thank goodness he shaves his head or he would have pulled all of his hair out by now!

I have managed to keep them occupied a little bit with my little obsession. =)

They picked out the color for this mani. It's probably good they did because I probably would have never used this polish. Yes I bought it but it was just because it was on sale.

I applied 2 coats of Sinful Colors This Is It.

As you can see it's very sheer. It kind of makes me think of mustard. :/

Then I applied 2 coats of Spoiled by Wet n Wild Jewel Heist

Then I added another coat of This Is It on top

This is definitely my least favorite mani. The color on my skin tone looks odd, but what little girls want...

The girls decided they wanted me to paint their nails too. They picked much nicer colors for themselves, go figure!

This is the color my niece picked.

Tiny nails are hard to paint, and even harder to stamp!

Those nubby nails are my stepdaughters...she's a bitter. The dentist told her she has to stop because he bites so much it's wearing the gums away. So she has a deal going with  my husband, who is also a biter, that if she can grow them out and stop biting for a month he will let me paint his nails hot pink and wear it to work! I hope keeping her nails polished will help her realize when she's biting. Does anyone have any tips that don't involve putting things on her fingers that taste bad, because that does not work.
