Hello my polished pretties! How are we on this lovely Halloween? I had planned on posting this later in the day but I remembered that it's Halloween and that some of you gals will be busy taking kiddies trick or treating or going to parties and what not, so earlier seems better to give all of you a chance to see these.
I want to start this part of the review just a little bit differently than what I usually do. I have been following Christian, the mind behind Polish TBH, from pretty close the beginning. It's been great fun to see her sneak peaks here and there. So when I received the opportunity to get to know about this line first hand I knew I wanted to pass this info on to you all as well. It's vary rare that I have the opportunity to bring a brand spankin new polish line to you first so I did a mini Q&A with Christian to share with you all!
Q: Where does the name "Polish TBH" come from?
A: The name was actually kinda hard to come up with. I had this idea for the polishes but I had no idea for the name. I ended up having some really good friends of mine help me figure it out. We tend to say "to be honest" a lot, like way more than any person should ever say that phrase. So it really seemed like a catchy and fun name, you know...it's Polish, to be honest!
Q. What was your inspiration behind the polishes?
A: I was actually inspired by a perfume for this collection. I loved the colors and shape of the bottle. I thought that it would be really cool if I could wear it, and as it turns out there were several variations of the perfume and all of them seemed like perfect combinations for polish.
$tackz (review below) was a little different. I was lucky enough to actually meet Khia (Hip Hop recording artist) around the launch of her latest album "Motormouf" and I asked her what kind of polish she would like to wear. So I made $tackz with her in mind.
Q: Where will you be selling your polishes?
A: The shop will be on Etsy and I may feature some on Copious.
(all links and info will be at the end of the review)
A: Yes, we are the Big 3 Free!
So that's the little Q&A. I just thought it would be a nice touch. Now on with the polish!!!
First up...
$tackz: a green jelly with gold micro holo, small green hex and medium gold hex glitters.
All pictures of $tackz are 3 coats topped with 1 coat of SV.
This is a true money green. Christian did an awesome job of capturing the look of money and riches in this. It kind of makes me think of Scrooge McDuck, in DuckTales, diving into his giant vault of gold and cash! LOL (Did I just date myself? I hope not!)
I was pleasantly surprised with this one, I didn't think I was going to like it as much as I do. There is a bit of settling in this one with the gold hexes but leaving it upside down for a minute or two takes care of that with no problem.
The larger glitter isn't suppose to overwhelm the nail, it's not a glitter bomb. Which is good because then you can see the micro holos much better. Application was smooth and easy.
Next up...
Midnight: a dark blue/purple jelly with blue holo, aqua and silver hex glitters.
All pictures of Midnight are 3 coats topped with 1 coat SV.
I may be biased because I love purple but this one is my absolute favorite of the collection! I love the others but this...*swoon*. I was a bit disappointed I didn't swatch this one last so I could wear it longer! LOL
I used 3 coats just to make sure to get the intensity of the darkness on my tips especially, but 2 coats would have been sufficient.
And last but not least...
Fantasy: The collections namesake, a fuchsia base with blue and turquoise glitters.
All pictures of Fantasy are 2 coats topped with 1 coat of SV.
The color combo is so amazing! The glitters are perfect because they are small and don't overpower the base color. Plus, since they are small, they come out in an abundance!
Overall, the formula on all of these were a dream. I tend to be a bit of a sloppy polisher, painting with my left hand is rough so clean up is a bit of a chore too, but the formula for all of them was so great that I didn't have to worry about flooding or pooling, therefore less clean up! I am highly impressed with what Polish TBH has to offer the world of Indie polish! What do you think? What are your favorites?
In case you missed it, check out the first review I did yesterday on Circus, Twist and Hidden.
Here is the full Fantasy collection again.
Polish TBH will go live with the Fantasy Collection at midnight ladies and gents!
Full sized bottles will be $8 and mins will be $4.
$tackz is a limited edition polish so there is only a small quantity!
Shipping as of the last time we spoke was US only but she was looking into pricing for International shipping and hoping to have it worked out by the time she opened up.
If you have any Q's you can reach Polish TBH on facebook here.
And finally the link for Polish TBH on Etsy is here!
So don't forget...MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT! (PST)
